May Update: Hip Hip Hooray

The past few weeks have been full of great projects and community activities, keeping everyone at the studio happily moving from one task to the next.

In the Flavour Lab, we focused on acts of kindness by baking a delicious batch of sweet and spicy Ginger Crunch for the team at Paper Plus. This was our way of saying a massive thank you to them for their wonderful support and their ongoing magazine donations to our studio. While we enjoyed some pikelets with jam and cream ourselves, gifting that homemade Ginger Crunch was the perfect way to show our appreciation. Back in the studio, I also completed our final healthy relationships session, which was all about staying safe on the internet. Since I absolutely love surfing the web on my iPad, this was incredibly helpful and taught me exactly what to look out for so I can explore online with confidence.

Lately, the Rebuilders Club has been keeping me super active as we work on revamping our sensory room. It needs a little bit of TLC, so we have been hard at work sanding down a large piece of plywood for the wall and repainting the main door, a fun project that will definitely keep me busy for the next few weeks! On top of the room makeover, we have also started building props for our big annual concert coming up soon. We kicked things off by painting massive cardboard fridge boxes to look like giant music speakers, and it is going to be so exciting to watch the stage come together.

To round out the last few weeks, I attended my regular People First meeting where we had a great discussion about our personal rights. I am also still having a blast at iDance in Tauranga every week; it has been amazing for building up my fitness levels so I can dance for longer, and it is giving me a huge confidence boost when dancing alongside everyone else. Finally, with the lovely support of the staff, I got to make a beautiful, heartfelt card for my special Aunty Jolene to show her just how much she means to me.
